There is an aspirational side to destination photography that looks effortless in print: perfect lighting, immaculate styling, and serene landscapes. But as a mother of three and a photographer of 16 years, I know that real life happens between the frames.
Recently, I escorted my children across the Atlantic for a wedding in Ireland. What was meant to be a smooth handoff and a creative retreat quickly turned into a masterclass in travel resilience. We arrived after a grueling 9-hour red-eye with zero sleep, only to hit a flat tire on a remote country road two hours later. The following day—right before our scheduled family session—one of my daughters came down with sudden motion sickness all over the rental car.
The climax arrived just after dropping my kids off with their father. Exhausted and deeply jet-lagged, I accidentally filled my petrol rental car with diesel. Stranded on the side of a road in Adare, my saving grace arrived in the form of a determined local gentleman named Jerome McSweeney and his mechanic friend, Gareth, who dropped everything to drain my tank and rescue my journey. Five hours later, I was driving as fast as I could to a cliffside branding session, stepping in front of the lens with dirty hair, sheer adrenaline, and a heart full of gratitude. I share this because luxury travel is rarely about perfection; it is about how we handle the pivots. When you commission me for an international or domestic destination session, you are not just hiring a fine-art eye. You are hiring a seasoned professional who remains completely calm in the chaos, navigates the unexpected with a smile, and knows exactly how to capture breathtaking legacy artwork—no matter what the journey throws our way.
